Women Celebrating Joe Nina’s 30 years of greatness at the Market Theatre

Music legend Joe Nina will be celebrated by non other than women in a one day music extravaganza that will also see a number of fellow musicians go on stage wit Nina at the Market Theatre.

Women in Music n partnership with the Market Theatre presents Joe Nina a celebration of  30 years of greatness on the 28th November 2020.

“We are honouring South Africa’s living human treasures. The music extravaganza will honour and celebrate music giant Nina for his contribution to South African music. The one day event will feature some notable artists such as Brenda Mtambo, Sliq Angel, Thobile Makhonyane, Steve Kekana, Sbu Dludlu and Matshepiso Mokone.

“Our Legends are mostly not celebrated while they are still alive and Women In Music felt the need to celebrate Joe Nina who has inspired and changed a lot of people’s lives and touched a lot of people’s hearts through music. We strongly believe that this is a much needed event to celebrate our Legend/Icon Mr Joe Nina Henry Makhosini Xaba.” Said Portia  Sibiya.

Following a successful career in music which spans over a decade Portia Sibiya (Founder) at Women In Music Npc has taken the initiative to impart some of her experience and talent with Women of South Africa. A move that’s often spoken off however not quite implemented. Portia Sibiya a doer by nature took the hard task of mobilizing the country’s finest female band and ensuring that they all come together on what would be deemed as a rare occasion as all of them will be the center piece of the show at once with the thorns.

This Event brings eminent music with experience which reflects life as it happens, you will be serenated with authentic vibe and soul connection the stage presence will have.

The band being led by the renowned south African female bassist: Portia Sibiya, who has worked with the legendary band Stimela, Thandiswa Mazwai, Tshepo Tshola, Lira, Ringo Madlingozi, ZimNqawanaetc

On Drums: Nozipho Mnguni female drummer from Mamelodi who also has worked with the likes of Simphiwe Dana, Sibongile Khumalo, Thandiswa, Vusi Nova, and Nina among others.

Nthabiseng  Mokoena a female saxophonist who has studied music at the Music Academy of Gauteng/ founder the late JohnyMekoa and has worked with various international and national artists like Evergreen, Wynton Marsalis, Tineke Postma, Themba Mkhize, Lira, Suthukazi Arosi  among others

And all in all it will be six backingvocalists together with the Thorns gracing the stage. This promises to be a night to be remembered for the longest time.

“Women in Music celebrates 10 years being an NPC headed by Women in the industry and privileged to honour the legend with this event,”.the organisers said in a statement.
