NAC suspends senior manager over corruption allegations

The Arts funding agency, the National Arts Council has suspended a senior manager in its human resource department amid allegations of corruption. NAC Chief Executive Officer Julie Diphofa, according to CITYLIFE/ARTS’s sources handed over the suspension letter to the manager on Monday, February 19, 2024. CITYLIFE/ARTs knows the name of the senior manager, but we are withholding publishing her name as she is yet to be formally charged.

CITYLIFE/ARTS has seen the suspension letter handed to the manager by NAC Interim Chief Executive Officer Julie Diphofa.

This letter serves to notify that you are hereby suspended  with immediate effect from your position…….pending an investigation to be conducted by the NAC. The reason for suspension is to investigating allegations raised by a whistle-blower in relation to alleged corruption activities taking place in the NAC Human Resources Unit.” part of the letter reads,

CITYLIFE/ARTS contacted Diphofa for comment and she had this to say in relation to questions we sent her.  

“Yes, Ms X (not her real name) has been placed on a precautionary suspension.  The allegations laid point to corrupt activities in her recruitment processes and her conduct within her scope of work.  Ms X was placed on a precautionary suspension pending investigation into those allegations.  She has not been charged yet.  The outcome on the investigation will determine if she would be charged or not.”
