Remembering arts stalwart Lynette Marais

One of the stalwarts of the arts Lynette Marias who passed on peacefully on August 28 was a mentor to many an artist. However she is mostly known for leading the then Grahsmtown National Arts Festival for 20 years as executive director. In fact some of us who for years made the annual pilgrimage to Grahamstown for the arts feast will always remember her as this passionate lover of the arts and a softly spoken personality who has always been likeable. She definitely gave a lot of her life to the cause of the arts in this country, and deserves all the recognition for that role.

May her soul rest in peace.-Edward Tsumele, CITYLIFE/ARTS Editor
