Ismail Mahomed appointed to Cape Town City Ballet board
By Edward Tsumele
The out-going Market Theatre Foundation chief executive officer Ismail Mahomed has been appointed to the board of the Cape Town City Ballet. Mahomed two weeks ago announced his resignation as the chief executive officer of the Market Theatre Foundation, and at the time did not reveal his career plans. He is still yet to announce his new career move. However CityLife Arts is reliably informed that Mahomed will in two weeks’ time announce his new career path.
“Our Chairperson, Suzette Raymond, and the Board of Directors of Cape Town City Ballet are extremely proud to announce the appointment of Ismail Mahomed to the Board of CTCB with immediate effect.
Ismail has more than 30 years experience in the performing arts sector, is an accomplished playwright, theatre director and arts administrator.
He is a former Artistic Director of the National Arts Festival, Makhanda; and completes his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Market Theatre Foundation at the end of June.
He will be a superb asset to our Board team bringing a wealth of experience in all areas of management and creative aspects of the arts. Welcome Ismail,” said Suzette Raymond, a spokesperson for Cape Town City Ballet.
“I look forward to working with the Board of the Cape Town City Ballet to support the work headed by Debbie Turner,” said Mahomed about his appointment to the Cape Town City Ballet.
