Legendary musician and lawyer Steve Kekana who died yesterday was an inspirational figure in South African society

In Steve Kekana, who died at the age of 62 in the early hours of Thursday, July 1, 2021, in hospital, the country has not only lost a legendary musician, but an inspiration inspirational figure in society Not only did Bra Steve defy the difficulties of life, more so as someone who lost his eye sight at the age of five, but a super achiever too. His achievements in music and in academia, was admired by the broad society of South Africa.
Kekana, a songwriter, performing artist and lawyer, he never allowed his lack of vision to stand on his way of achieving both academically and musically. In fact his achievements, especially in academics were such that he became an inspirational figure to many in society, who wished they wre like him, both those with vision and those without the gift of eyesight.
Not only did he go back to school as an adult where he completed two law degrees, but he was a respected civil servant who used his academic qualifications to provide quality service to his employers in the public service sector, as well as providing for his family.
His musical achievements include working with legends such as the late Nana Coyote and the late Ray Phiri among others, as a performer and songwriter.
Kekana was a graduate of Tshwane University of Technology where he obtained B Juris and LLB degrees, opening him other avenues to explore in life besides plying his trade in music. Last year, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in Philosophy by the University of South Africa.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed by his family yet.
