Turbine Art Fair kicks off and all that you need to know

By Edward Tsumele

The Turbine Art Fair,(TAF) in its 9th iteration this year is opening on Thursday, September 30, 2021 and will run until Sunday, October 3. The fair this year can either be attended in person, in which case pre-booking is required, or it can be attended online anywhere in the world, and tickets are available online.

Those attending in person will have to go to TAF’s Illovo, Johannesburg, home, where Covid-19 protocols are applicable and will be strictly followed, and may include producing a Covid-19 proof of vaccination or testing can be done on the premises for a fee.

TAF since it started has always attracted high calibre galleries from South Africa and from other countries in the southern African region. The fair has always attracted collectors, especially those at the beginning of building up their collections, simply because the prices of the art works on offer are reasonably priced at a maximum cap of R49 000 per art work. But when Covid-19 hit last year, the fair went virtual, but this year the organisers have decided to have a hybrid fair.

And to assist those who are planning to attend this year’s TAF CITYLIFE/ARTS is providing a guide below, all the information you need to have about this year’s fair in order to make your navigation of the fair easy.
