Finalists announced for the Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Award.

Jacana Media has announced a shortlist of three poets standing to walk away with fabulous prizes of Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Award.
From the longlist of poems selected by this year’s judging panel for publication of volume 10 of the anthology, head judge, Professor Mongane Wally Serote, has selected the three finalists for the 2021 Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Award.
In alphabetical order, the three shortlisted poems are:· ‘Camagu’ by Kwazi Ndlangisa, Notes from Ratanang’ Tavern by Zama Madinana and O Fihlile’ by Mmabore Gladys Mogashoa.
How these poems have placed, and the overall winner, will be announced, and cash prizes awarded (R6000 for first place, R4000 for second place and R2000 for third place) at an event held in Cape Town on 16 November 2021.
“Thank you to our judges and translators, Professor Mongane Wally Serote, Goodenough Mashego, Pieter Odendaal, Dr Innocentia Mhlambi, Aubrey Neo Sehlala and Rustum Kozain, for reviewing all the entries and selecting the 60 poems that will appear in the 10th annual Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Anthology,” said Jacana Media in a statement released yesyerday after the announcement of the short list. The winners will be announced in Cape Town on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
