Those who love good life in general, and fantastic choice of some of the best wine brands in the country do not need to look further than the current online Stephan Welz &Co.. The company which specializes in selling on auction, both wines and art, is calling on wine lovers to check out this auction as they might find what they have been looking for all along, and bid. Who knows you may be the one to bid successfully and add a good bottle of  wine to your collection.

“Our latest selection of wines from Restaurant Mosaic’s cellar s now live and open for bidding!. With the variety of regions and countries currently on offer, we wanted to specifically highlight some of the exciting champagnes available. Starting off with a bang is LOT 33 which consists of 6 bottles of the famed 2008 vintage in Champagne from now cult producer,Egly-Ouriet. This is towering parcel of bubbles from one of the region’s great names. Current market price abroad is around R12000 a bottle so at the low estimate this is a good option for those wanting some of the very best bubbles from this special vintage.

Still with the theme of the magnificent 2008 vintage is LOT 35, which is a case of 6 bottles of Pol Roger’s spectacular Blanc de Blancs. Pol Roger is pure class and always so dependable.  It was given 95 points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and described as follows “…..The finish is lovely aromatic and intense, but also clear, fresh, firm and absolutely stimulating. This is a great Blanc de Blancs from the Grand Cru villages”.

Don’t overlook the prestige cuvee from Pol Roger either, that of the Sir Winston Churchill cuvee. The vintage is 2006 and it is LOT 32 consisting of two bottles . This cuvee was named in honour of Winston Churchill, as the statesman had a lifelong love affair with the Pol Roger brand and by all accounts consumed 500 cases in his lifetime! This cuvee can and will age for many years and the 2006 will be entering its drinking window,” says the company.

LOT 13 is a more mature parcel of bubbles but again from a fantastic vintage in Champagne, that of 2002. Champagne from Diebolt-Vallois surely still remains an insider’s tip – this house produces very fine champagne and often in the more value segment of the market, especially considering the quality. This is a blanc de blancs (100 % Chardonnay) from the villages of Chouilly and Cuis in the Côte des Blancs and should be drinking very well now.

LOT 14  s a 3 bottle parcel from Delamotte and its their 1999 vintage Collection Blanc de Blancs. Delamotte is made by the same team that creates the almost mythical Salon Champagne. One of the oldest houses, it has been a benchmark in the champagne region since 1760. This cuvee was held back a little bit longer in the Delamotte cellars in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and from a warmer vintage which resulted in a special champagne with immense power, yet laced with extreme elegance. A blockbuster bottle of bubbles. Antonio Galloni had this to say “ The 1999 Blanc de Blancs collection is a gorgeous Champagne for drinking now and over the next decade or two”  and was awarded 95 points.

The auction ends at7pm on Friday 11 March, 2022.
