Choreographer Thami Tshabalala takes Isenyuso to the stages of the Soweto Theatre next month

Choreographer Thami Tshabalala has a new  piece titled Isenyuso which opens at The Soweto Theatre from 5 – 7 May..

It premiered at The State Theatre at the beginning of the month and is a powerful piece of contemporary dance that will leave you in awe. 

Thami was nominated in 2020 for a Naledi Award for his first solo project Simon and has now been nominated as part of the collaboration with Kelsey Middelton for the project I am.

The choreographer already has an illustrious track record as a choreography since from the time of his high school and university.

Thamsanqa Tshabalala started classical dance training at the age of16 at  the National School of the Arts under the supervision of Danielle Crous, Manuel Noram, and Lauren Jones, and received full colours in performance  in 2009. After matriculating, he was approached by directors Andile Stali and Kebu Mwale to choreograph the NSA main musical Sarafina which was staged at their annual Festival of Fame in 2010.In 2011he continued his studies in dance at the Tshwane University of Technology, graduating cum laude in 2013. Whilst at the TUT, he was awarded the Kelsey Middleton floating trophy for Best Contemporary Dancer in2012and 2013,and for Best Choreography in 2013 for his work‘…
