By CityLife Arts Writer
A new fortnightly African Art Business News Digestlaunches this week. Each edition will share selected top, recent stories as they relate to the market for African art and art sold in Africa. Produced in a joint initiative between Strauss & Co, Africa’s Leading Art auction house, and the Art Business Conference.
“As both the art market on the African Continent broadens and international collecting interest in African art and artists continues to increase, the digest will provide a regular, aggregated selection of articles and content from both regional and global sources”, said Bina Genovese, a Managing Executive, Strauss & Co.
“Prioritizing news from the modern and contemporary art categories the digest will share selected stories as they relate to African art or art sold in Africa,”said Louise Hamlin, Art Business Conference Founder. “Building on the success of our Digital Art Digest, in this fast-moving environment, we are excited to offer this regular content to audiences.”
Launching as the art market starts the second half of the year, and just ahead of the keynote Royal Academy London exhibition dedicated to leading South African artist, William Kentridge, the African Art Business Newsletter will also share information about exhibitions and museum happenings, as well as wider topical issues such as art technology, NFTs and cultural property.
The African Art Business Newsletter will be produced by the team at the Art Business Conference founded by Louise Hamlin, formerly of the Art Newspaper and will be collated by respected journalist, Riah Pryor.
