A group of artists to showcase their works after mentorship programme at Springs Gallery

Artists that have attended a series of workshops to polish their professionaldevelopment will now have an opportunity to showcase their works at a group exhibition at the Springs Art Gallery in Ekurhuleni.
“The Springs Art Gallery (SAG) is pleased to present uMSIZInoPENDE GROUP ART EXHIBITION. This group exhibition features original work, which resulted from the workshops series designed to provide professional development for local artists presented by Isthuli Sasengweni Arts & Crafts Organisation.
UmsizinoPende Art Project is a supportive network and exchange programme for young artists to gain experience regarding their own artistic practice, with a focus on visual arts. Artists attended a 3-day professional development workshop as part of the project programme provided by Isthuli Sasengweni Arts & Crafts Organisation,” the gallery says in a statement ahead of the opening of the exhibition on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The workshop took place from 2 – 4 March 2022 at Emthonjeni Day-Care Centre (Tsakani). A team of professional artists’au fait in all manner of arts (iMlamuli Zulu and Arnold Mabuya) jointly mentored 10 emerging artists from in and around Ekurhuleni area during the skills-sharing workshop.
These practical sessions is culminating in a professional curated exhibition at the Springs Art Gallery, uMSIZInoPENDE GROUP ART EXHIBITION, curated by Mlamuli Zulu, Contemporary Visual Artist and 2017 Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards First Prize winner.The resulting exhibition highlights the diverse viewpoints and variety of creative processes of these artists as they gain momentum in their artistic trajectories.

Thamsanga Mfuphi| Mpho Monyatso | Zwelakhe Ngobese | Luvuyo Dlova| Thando Madi Tebogo Mokoena | Thato Montswagae | Lehlohonolo Dlamini| Thandiwe Kumalo and Sibusiso Mabena.
The emphasis of this show is to promote new work and talent and to profile the Springs Art Gallery as an art resource centre. The Springs Art Gallery (SAG) aim to raise public awareness of emerging visual artists by providing exhibition space and opportunity to meet artists and see their work physically and on an online platform. The exhibition is part of the gallery’s experimental solo and group series project idea, which focuses on launching new careers of emerging and promising artists.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, 26 March 2022, at the Springs Art Gallery in Springs at 12pm. The opening of this exhibition will include live music and a presentation to recognize the artists for their amazing artistic accomplishments.Three artists with the most impressive works of art will be announced on the occasion of the official opening of the group exhibition, uMSIZInoPENDE.
This exhibition will run until Friday, 28 April 2022, and the Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9am – 4pm for public viewing (closed on Sundays and public holidays).
