“I believe that through the lens, we capture not just images, but stories that connect us all,” says Mzamo Myeki, reflecting on his journey. Born with a curiosity for life’s diverse facets, Myeki’s journey led him to Johannesburg in 2015. However, it wasn’t until the year 2020, a mere four years after the inception of The Circle Society, that he found himself captivated by the art of photography. “It was through the lens that I discovered the beauty in the ordinary stories that lie beneath the surface.”
Drawing inspiration from accomplished photographers such as Andrew Tshabangu, whom he met on Fox Street, Johannesburg during a photo shoot, and the works of Sabelo Mlangeni and Lindeka Qampi, Myeki’s passion gained direction and purpose.
“Their works showed me that photography is a way to speak without words,” Myeki says, emphasizing on the transformative power of the art form has. Those influences shaped the evolution of The Circle Society, propelling them into the spotlight of the Maboneng Precinct.
Maboneng, is the epitome of multiculturalism, vibrancy, and artistry. It offers an unparalleled experience to both local and international visitors.
“Our goal is to offer visitors a piece of Maboneng that they can take home with them, a tangible memory that resonates beyond their visit,” Myeki explains.

Under the banner of The Circle Society, Myeki and his team provide visitors with an opportunity to capture the spirit of the African city. “Every image we capture under the
Maboneng sign tells a unique story of connection and emotion.”
One unforgettable moment in Myeki’s journey involves capturing a proposal that took place under the Maboneng sign. A client, caught up in the excitement of the moment, exclaimed: “Don’t stop shooting!” as he prepared to propose to his girlfriend of a nine-year relationship.
“That moment was a testament to the emotional resonance that Maboneng holds,” Myeki recalls with a smile. It speaks volumes about the precinct’s significance as a place where unforgettable memories are made.
