Artist Audrey Salmon exhibition examining how our minds are polluted by images of paradise is on at Wits Art Museum
By CityLife Arts Writer
Currently Wits Art Museum (WAM) is hosting an exhibition worth visiting. In her exhibition In the Wake of Flouted Bodies, Audrey Salmon examines the idea that our minds and bodies are polluted with endless images of Paradise promising happiness, resulting in the constriction, amputation and systematic destruction of bodies, ideas and potential.
This body of work seeks to demonstrate the beauty and violence embedded in the use of repetition while placing emphasis on existing but often overlooked spaces that hold the potential to impart nuances and impart time.
The exhibition forms part of the artist’s submission towards a Creative-Arts PhD at the Wits School of Arts. In the Wake of Flouted Bodies will be on show from 01 – 26 March 2022.
