KAYA 959 has announced a shuffle to its talent pool line-up, which includes great news for fans of the award-winning broadcaster Andy Maqondwana.

The dynamic radio presenter, who joined the station in July 2021, has been holding the reins on the midday show since November 2021 as well as her own weekend show Reloaded with Andy. Kaya 959 listeners can rest easy knowing the bubbly Maqondwana will be taking over the weekday midday slot, with a new show called Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana.

“The appointment of Andy Maqondwana talks to Kaya 959’s on-air strategy of offering an authentic listening experience. She is as real as it gets. Moreover the audience has shown their love for Andy and have given her their stamp of approval since she joined. ” – Sibongile Mtyali, Managing Director for Kaya 959.

The Kaya 959 family is all about growing its talent and will be doing just that as Tyroline G Franks, a graduate of the Kaya Development Initiative, moves to presenting the Saturday Nites show from 21:00 to 00:00.

Franks, whose background is in community radio at Eldos FM in Eldorado Park and a graduate of Wits Radio Academy, has been keeping Kaya 959 audiences entertained during the early morning weekend slot 03:00 to 06:00 and as a Traffic Reporter on Kaya Drive.

Joining in the adjustments is popular media personality Mthokozisi ‘MaBlerh’ Cele, who will be hosting his Weekend Updateshow every Saturday from 15:00 to 18:00.

Added Mtyali: “These changes are proof that talent development is important to our business. We want to give the amazing talent we have on the station an opportunity to grow and shine. We gave MaBlerh his first radio show in July 2021, and now he will have a daytime show. Tyroline Franks came from a community radio station (Eldos FM). Her passion and drive secured her the overnight trainee slot, and now she will host a Saturday night show.”

Another exciting addition to the Kaya 959 mix is Angie Khumalo, a seasoned broadcaster with almost two decades radio experience. She joins the station as a sports and traffic presenter on Thomas and Skhumba in the Morning between 06:00 and 09:00.

The new schedule came into effect from Friday 1 April.

  1. Where’s the slot for Thomas & Skhumba ? What was the reason behind the changes as this 2 were doing great and the stats were very high in number of listeners. Clarity on that.
