Four Day Africa Day Festival at Constitution Hill features, music, fashion, film, food and market

African entrepreneurs and creatives will be putting their best foot forward during this year’s Africa Day Festival, taking place from the 25th to the 28th of May 2022 at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg.
The four day action packed festival will showcase a medley of African collaborations in Fashion, Film, Food, Business, Arts and Culture. Festival hosts The LoCrate Market say this event is a much-needed catalyst that will revive the creative economy that has been negatively impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Africa Day Festival will not only celebrate African talent but will also give our creatives and entrepreneurs a platform to collaborate and acquire a livelihood, thus allowing us to open the industry. The festival aims to create an enabling environment for young people from across Africa to exchange ideas and do business under our theme, “United colors of Africa,” says Kgosi Rampa, organiser of the Africa day festival.
The festival thrives on the idea of an inclusive Africa that encourages people from all nationalities, races, genders and more especially members of the LGBTQI+. The event will also be providing a platform for local businesses to market and sell their products to a wider audience and positioning Gauteng as a vibrant tourist destination.
Strategic partners like MTVBase, BET Africa and The Department of Arts and Culture will highlight the progress that Africa has made while reflecting upon the common challenges that the continent must tackle in order to achieve a united and thriving Africa.
This year’s Africa Day Festival is historic since it forms part of a majestic build up to the 60th Anniversary of Africa Day next year. Africa Day is celebrated across Africa every year to mark the formation of the Organisation of African Unity on the 25th of May 1963 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which later became African Union.
