South African international model Tinyiko Mathusa dies

The South African modelling industry is reeling over the sudden death of South African international model Tinyiko Mathusa over the weekend. Mathusa who was based in Turkey and travelled regularly around Europe as the owner of a top modelling agency died on Saturday, August, 27, 2022, at home in Palaborwa after undergoing a tummy operation at a Limpopo hospital a week ago, according to her aunt Ntombi Manhattan.

However Mathusa had come back to South Africa lat last year in May due to her illness and has been in and out of hospital, leading to the operation a week ago.

The details surrounding her operation are still sketch, but those close to her say that she was worried about how the operation was going to affect her modelling career as it is said to have left a deep scar on on her tummy, but worse was to come as she passed on on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Funeral arrangement have not yet been completed, but she is expected to be held this Saturday in 

She was at hospital the previous week, but when she was discharged She came back home  sick. On the day of her arrival from Turkey she went to the hospital and they operated on her tummy. After the operation she was concernedf that the scar was going to work against her career. Secondly when was also worried that she still can’t get the reasons behind the operation. She was supposed to go back to Turkey in September last year, but she had to wait for the second vaccine for Covid 19 that was supposed to happen in October last year. Since she came back she was in an out of  hospital. 

The sickness made her to delay her trip back to Turkey. During her stay here in SA she spent most of her time in Gauteng, but the last hospital admission was in Limpompo, Giyani.. The funeral will be at Siyadani, that’s the village after Giyani. The family is still in discussions regarding the date, but is most likely to be this coming Saturday,” Manhattan explained to CITYLIFE/ARTS about the circusmtances that led her to the fateful operation.

Mathusa began her modelling career from humble beginnings as a lowly paid Sandtion hotel cleaner to the top of the modelling world, and at the time of her death she had business interests in a number of industries, ranging from clubs to property, TV and owning a top intyernational modelling agency. Funeral detailsls for Tinyiko Mathusa are as follows: . The funeral is on Saturday 3 August, 2022, at Siyandhani village, Limpopo. The  Service starts at 6h00.
