Talented choral outfit Ndlovu Youth Choir embarks on first South African tour

Music fans in Johannesburg and Cape Town will have the opportunity to watch the choir on stage during September and October 2022.

You have certainly heard about this internationally famous choral outfit that has so far had music fans in as far as the US eat from their talented musical palms. You probably have also heard or even gotten yourself their debut brand new album that has recently been released. But then  you may have been wondering as to when will you have an opportunity to see them on stage, in action.

Well If you are in Johannesburg or Cape Town, or If you are going to be visiting these two cities soon, you will not have to ask that question ever again. This is because this famous choir from the back waters province of Mpumalanga is going on a tour for the first time since the choir became famous.

And yes, tickets are on sale and If you are quick enough, you might be able to buy yourself a ticket before they run out, and with the kind of fame they already have, it may happen that the tickets will run out at these lined up shows. The choir will take to the stage at Montecasino in Johannesbug and Arts Cape In Cape Town during this tour.

Since its inception in 2009, the Ndlovu Youth Choir has become one of South Africa’s most treasured choral groups also recognised globally for their unique musical arrangements, vocal talents and infectious energy. The Ndlovu Youth Choir is set to perform their first ever SA headline tour with a concert series beginning at Montecasino’s Teatro on Friday, 30 September at 8pm; Saturday, 1 October at 3pm and 8pm and Sunday, 2 October at 2pm and 6pm.  Cape Town concerts at the Artscape Theatre Complex take place on Friday, 7 October at 7:30pm; Saturday, 8 October at 3pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, 10 October at 2pm and 6pm.

To be back performing for a live audience, especially on home soil is a dream for the 20 choristers who are ready to light up the stage with their vibrant song and dance. Ndlovu Youth Choir in Concert features many of the Choir’s famous hits such as Africa, Shallow/Enxwemeni, Shape of You, Higher Love, Hold On, Ungandibulali and We Will Rise.  The repertoire also features their newest songs Man in the Mirror and Grateful, and some original compositions including WeBaba Omncane and Afrika Hey from their first studio album entitled ‘Grateful’ which was released in April 2022 across all streaming platforms.

From their home base in the Moutse Valley in rural Limpopo to reaching the finals of America’s Got Talent (Season 14) the Ndlovu Youth Choir has played sold-out performances in Europe and appeared on many local and international  television and radio shows.  They have collaborated with many artists such as Master KG, 25k, Sun-El Musician, Tyler ICU and performed for the likes of Trevor Noah and Bill Gates.  During the Coronavirus crisis the Choir joined many of the world’s top A-list performers on a virtual stage when they were featured during the Global Citizens One World: Together at Home virtual concert. Soon they will be in concert in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
