Resilient Afro-jazz group Black Knot release a single for your ears

This group has been around for sometime, and in fact if the truth be told, it must be one of the most underrated Afro-jazz groups on the South Africa music scene. They sound is good and they are resilient. Black Knot music is smooth afro jazz that accommodates different generations.

However you will soon know about them because they have just released their single and they hope that you will love their music and connect with it.

Black Knot (Previously known as Blackmok), is a smooth Afro Jazz Band based in Brakpan
(Gauteng), an absolute masterpiece bandthat performs its own original compositions from the album Thlolohelo (2010) and its new composition. The band has now released a new single Net Daar (1 October 2025) featuring Thabiso Mokoena (Voice) and a young Kgaugelo Gailele. The single available on many electronic media platforms (Sportify, YouTube, iTunes, Apple music, etc.). The song is also air played on different radio stations (SABC, independent and community radio stations). The band is preparing for full album recording, early 2026.

This marvelous out? t consist of members of whom most have been to multiple music schools/institutions (such as FUBA Academy, Durban Westville University and Central Johannesburg College) and some are tutors in different institutions.

The members as individuals come from different hands of tutors and mentors like Zim Ngqawana, Victor Ntoni, Johny Mekoa, Concord Nkabinde, Mike Rossi, Ezra Ncukwana, Frank Foster, Sophie Mngcina, Barney Rachabane, Salliaman Domingo, Dr John Kani, Sipho Mabuse, Ray Phiri – the lists endless. Other members have also performed with different well-known musicians at different events.

Black Knot performed at different events, be it corporates, government and festivals (Examples: Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Sejacufe, Matlosana, Ekurhuleni Jazz Comes Alive [Birchwood], Carnival City Casino, Moretele Park etc.) and the latest performance after the Covid-19 regrouping was Cherry Jazz Festival (Ficksburg) on the 25 November 2023 and at Café 69 Jazzy Thursday Balcony
