Without a doubt the Miss South Africa pageant has grown in both stature and the value of the prizes at stake, and as a result the quality of entries has improved as well.
Gone are the days when the only considerations, If not, at least the major one, was the looks. But now more is required and expected from the participants. Besides the looks, which in any case are God-given, they are expected to be smart as well, and this smartness comes in many forms, for example answering the judges’ questions intelligently. And doing so these days requires that one is well read, and hence almost all the 10 finalists have some form of tertiary education, and in fact a good number of them boast really good education behind their names.

And so it is almost given that the one that will walk away with this major prize come August 13, 2022, will be a smart girl with good education behind her name.
This no wonder why the fight for this title has increasingly become fierce, and after all the prizes are great. The organisers have unveiled the Miss South Africa 2022 residence, the home where she will be based for the whole year during her reign, and indeed this is a residence suitable for a Queen. And it does not come cheap.
