Music veterans release Covid-19 song

The issue of sanitizing and wearing a mask to protect oneself is an issue of death and life during these uncertain times, and many people are now aware of this need to protect themselves and their loved ones form infection. However there still pockets of resistance among a certain section of society due mainly to lack of information and being naïve. A group pf elderly musicians advised Bathabile Dlamini have released a song that that encourages people to sanitise and wear a face mask.

The song called What shall we do, produced by veteran musician Ntokozo Zungu a guitarist of Stimela fame.

Released through Omama Besxaxa Foundation, an organization that was formed by musiciansand artists of yesteryear, including Izintombi Zesimanjemanje, Zamambo, and Othulubheke, to mention but a few.

As legends, they do not have that energy to move around and market their music so they always try their luck by knocking at any door that they think can be helpful. In December 2019, they managed to get hold of the ANC Women’s League President (Bathabile Dlamini) with the help of Malikwa Jacob Mtshweni, and the rest is history as they say.  Dlamini is the one who suggested a song about COVID-19.

Dlamini advised Nelly Dladla (Zamambo band leader) to involve some of the members of the foundation and other artists who are not part of Omama Besxaxa Foundation. Dladla invited Zungu from Stimela, Jane Dlamini (Izintombi zesimanjemanje), Zodwa Mashinini (Zamambo band) Tonique Phala (Lucky Dube Band), Nazania Ngelengele Radebe (Isitimela).

The likes of Malungelo “Drencko” Kamango, Nhlonipho 2REAL SA Malunga, Keaoleboga “Ouji Champ’ Sebalo, Jacob “King Jay” Mtshweni and Sinenlanhla “Sargee” Sithole. It was mixed and mastered by Moses “Black Mose” Ngwenya (Soul Brothers) in Soul Brothers Studios.
