The Lazy Makoti wins her third Gourmand World Cookbook Award

The author of cook book Hosting with Lazy Makot’s literay stars continue to multiply asMogau Seshoene, has won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Hosting with the Lazy Makoti.
“Jonathan Ball Publishers is delighted to announce that trained chef and award winning cookbook author, Mogau Seshoene, has won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Hosting with the Lazy Makoti.
This year marks the 28th Gourmand World Cookbook Awards and the list of winners by country were announced on their website. Hosting with the Lazy Makoti was chosen as South Africa’s best in the category, Entertaining.
The Gourmand Awards brings together the best of over 100 000 screened books and publications from some 230 countries and regions. There are various criteria for each category on the list, but they have all in common one guiding principle, all books are chosen for their appeal and importance from an international point of view. Mogau Seshoene is a trained chef and award-winning cookbook author.
Her previous book, The Lazy Makoti’s Guide to the Kitchen, became an instant bestseller. Mogau received two Gourmand World Cookbook Awards and a USIBA Creative and Cultural Industries Award, and was named the 2021 Luxe Restaurant Awards Culinary Media Personality of the Year. She’s featured on the Forbes Africa ‘30 under 30’ list and the Mail and Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans list. She most recently won the award for Cookbook of the Year at the 2022 Luxe Restaurants Awards and has just released a homeware range with Woolworths available in store this festive season.
