Yes we are in lockdown, but still so much one can do and see around Joburg

By CityLife Arts Writer

Today is a public holiday simply because August 9 fell on a Sunday. It is is probably the right time for one to go out and enjoy the Joburg scenery, especially because intra provincial travel (traveling within the province) is no0w allowed under level three with certain conditions that must be met.

One does not have to travel far though as Joburg has so much to offer its residents, be it visiting a book shop, an art gallery or a park, one can enjoy so much around Johannesburg. Most of these establishments are open for business, of course observing rules of social distancing and other safety precautions.

Apart from sports and activities such as golf, canoeing and kayaking, why not take  a stroll, cycle or jog through one of the City’s gorgeous botanical gardens or parks which are now open to the public for exercising purposes between 06h00 and 18h00.

Melville Koppies is also offering hikes on strict reservations basis (fomk@mk.org.za).

Enjoy dining out at some of Joburg’s vibey restaurants  which are open to patrons, while adhering to strict safety protocols. In addition to fine dining, Fairlawns Boutique Hotel is offering luxury escape package voucher to enjoy at the Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa after the lockdown ends.

These exciting packages include relaxing Spa treatments, delicious meals in the award-winning Amuse-Bouche and much more. For more information on the packages, go to the website to choose the package that suits your needs or contact the reservations team at reservations@fairlawns.co.za).

For something different, try out the novel roadhouse dining and movie experience at Pineslopes shopping centre.(pineslopesboulevard.co.za/drive-in-movies).“Virtual experiences notwithstanding, there’s always something to look forward to trying out in the flesh in Joburg,”says LumkaDlomo, Destination Marketing Manager for Joburg Tourism.
