The late South African documentary photographer Santu Mofokeng to be immortalised through a new photography prize

A new prestigious photography competition, named after one of the country’s leading documentary photographers the late Santu Mofokeng, is to be launched soon.
“’Join the Santu Mofokeng Foundation and Latitudes for the launch of a new national photography prize recognising outstanding emerging photographers working in South Africa.
Established in honour of the legacy of Santu Mofokeng, one of South Africa’s most influential photographers, the prize seeks to identify artists whose work demonstrates a thoughtful and compelling engagement with the photographic medium while reflecting the depth, sensitivity and critical awareness that characterised Mofokeng’s practice.
Join us for an inspiring morning of art and conversation, featuring an introduction to the prize and an exhibition of selected works by Santu Mofokeng,”reads a statement from the organisers.
