Zimbabwean artist’s Portia Zvavahera’s art work has achieved significant recognition at auction, with her painting this is where I travelled, selling for £307,200 at Christie’s in London on October 14, 2026.
This sale surpasses her previous record of US$355,600, set in New York in 2023. The artist’s work, including VeseVakanddibata (They all gave me strength)” and Take Me Deeper, has been sold at various auction venues, reflecting her growing popularity and the value placed on her art.
This commercial triumph and recognition for the artist, a previous winner of the coveted FNB Art Prize in 2014, has positioned Zvavahere at the top of the list of artists to watch out for in the commercial fiercely competitive secondary market globally. This is an area that has often been dominated by huge names in art, often a generation much older than her.
