Emerging actors stand to benefit from acting mentorship programme and earn R5 000

Young emerging actors have an opportunity to polish their acting craft through an online mentorship programme lead by industry professionals. And those selected stand to earn R5 000 upon completion of the course. Those interested in this programme must submit a 2-minute video introducing themselves and sharing why they should be chosen. Videos should be sent through WhatsApp to 067 844 4447. The deadline for submissions is the 19th of March 2023, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The program will run online from 20-29 March 2023.

Creative Careers South Africa is proud to announce, Am I the Drama? – a ground-breaking 10-day monologue mentorship and showcase that promises to unlock new potential in the South African arts sector. The program, produced by Stallone Santino, actor and the director of Creative Careers South Africa, is aimed at providing emerging actors with the opportunity to refine their acting skills through a one-on-one online mentorship program,” statement released by the programme designers reads.

IT further adds: “Given the impact of the pandemic and how presenting the arts has changed, Am I the Drama? has been designed to be conducted online, making it more accessible to aspiring actors from all over the country. Santino, who produced the highly acclaimed “Creators on Creating: An Antidote to Uncertainty,” is dedicated to nurturing and developing emerging talent in the arts sector. “Am I the Drama?” is the latest addition to his repertoire of programs designed to help young artists thrive.”

The mentorship program will be facilitated by Santino, television and film actress Mayuri Naidu, and community theatre practitioner Bongeka Cebekhulu. These experienced professionals will help emerging actors learn fundamental acting techniques, script interpretation, and character development. Participants who commit to the full duration of the program will receive a R5000 stipend each and will have the opportunity to showcase their monologues in a virtual showcase that will be open to the public.

Am I the Drama? is open to all emerging actors in South Africa who are passionate about refining their acting skills.
