Afro-fusion band Abavuki, Sasha-Lee Davids, the Jazzart Dance Theatre company, funny man and all-round good guy Wayne McKay and the irrepressible Shimmy Isaacs got to grips with Cape Town’s mercurial weather as the lights came on.
The threat of inclement weather could not rain on the parade of the uplifting event last night.
The City made an announcement at the beginning of November detailing a line-up that is full of energy.
Adding even more spark to the proceedings the Festive Lights Switch-On will now also include dynamic performances from popular T-pop act 4IAM, Vezz, Cape Town’s famous ‘bus busker’, Bernice West who will perform her song ‘Lyfie” – the Jazzart dance group will accompany Bernice and have created a dance for Capetonians to get in step together. Yesterday, it was also announced that multi-award-winning music artist, Zakes Bantwini will be lending his star power to the event with a set guaranteed to wow the audience.
