Two Weeks to go – Get ready to submit your entry for Sasol New Signatures 2025!

By CityLife Arts Writer

The countdown is officially on! With just under two weeks left until final submission for the 2025 Sasol New Signatures Visual Arts Competition, emerging South African artists are encouraged to prepare their entries for one of the country’s most prestigious visual art platforms.

Founded by the Association of Arts Pretoria and proudly sponsored by Sasol for the past 35 years, Sasol New Signatures has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of countless South African artists. It remains the longest-running competition of its kind in the country and is a powerful platform for fresh, new voices in contemporary South African art.

The competition offers emerging artists a rare opportunity to:

  • Benchmark their work on a national level
  • Gain exposure through inclusion in the Sasol New Signatures exhibition at the Pretoria Art Museum
  • Be featured in the annually published Sasol New Signatures Catalogue

Artists are encouraged to push creative boundaries, explore new materials and techniques, and challenge conventional norms in artmaking. This is a space for bold, visionary, and experimental work. To assist artists on their submission journey, Sasol New Signatures provides a wide range of educational tools, including:

  • Online information sessions
  • Downloadable fact sheets
  • Blogs
